Introduction
Our 41 week Medical Office Assistant (MOA) program will provide students with the knowledge and training to be successful in a medical office. Students will learn how to communicate accurately with medical professionals and patients. They will learn the skills to perform office duties at a medical office or clinic, such as medical billing, medical transcription, and medical office procedures.

Graduates are employed by hospitals, medical and dental offices, and other offices throughout the public and private sectors.
Upon completion of the program, you could find employment as a:
- Medical Office Assistant
- Medical Secretary
- Medical Office Administrator
- Medical Billing Specialist
- Clinical Assistant
- Medical Transcriptionist
While Medical Office Assisting is a gratifying career in and of itself, you also have room to progress if you choose to. Many Medical Office Assistants go on to become Medical Office Managers or take on other supervisory roles (which comes with a graduated pay scale) once they have gained some experience. Likewise, you may choose to use Medical Office Assisting as a stepping stone, pursuing further education while you get experience in the medical field.


Admission Requirements
A Canadian High School Equivalency Diploma (General Education Development Test), OR
Equivalent: Foreign credentials must be translated in English and assessed for Grade 12 equivalency by a recognized organization such as WES (World Education Service) (refer to Section I-4.4)
Mature student status may be granted to applicants who are over 19 years of age and do not have a Canadian high school diploma or GED.
Wonderlic SLE (or other MCU approved test – Note: CAT and CAST can no longer be used)
Additional Admission Requirements
If English is not the student’s first language, proof of English proficiency is required through one of the following:
IELTS: Overall 5.5 (no band below 5.5)
TOEFL iBT: Overall 80 (minimum 20 in each section)
CAEL: Overall 60 (no section below 60)
CELPIP: Score of 7 (no section below 6)
Canadian Language Benchmark: Level 7 in each strand
Duolingo English Test: Minimum score 95
Pearson PTE Academic: Minimum score 46
NACC Entrance Exam: Passing score of 60
OR successful completion of 2 years full-time post-secondary study in English (inside or outside Canada)
